Any country that wants to achieve freedom and get rights, needs leaders to achieve their dreams. Freedom depends upon its people. Every single country in the world has such heroes who sacrifice their lives for their nation.

Freedom fighters play a vital role in making any country free and independent. 
As you all know, our India was colonized by the Britishers. They were suppressing our voices and rights. They ruled India for almost 200 years. It was a tough time for our country. Indians were being forced to work without paying them any penny. India was under complete darkness.

Thanks to the freedom fighters who fought against the Britishers. They started many movements against the British government. And after so many years of struggle, India got freedom from the Britishers in the year 1947.

There are so many freedom fighters who fought against the Britishers. Some are known and some are unknown. We must respect both. They sacrificed their lives for ent India. 

Some famous freedom fighters are as below;

  • Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Below are some freedom fighters you may not have heard of.

Begum Hazrat Mahal

Begum Hazrat Mahal also known as "Begum of Awadh" was one of the prominent freedom fighters of India. She led the battle in the first Indian War of Independence in the year 1857.

Bursa Munda

Birsa Munda, born on 15 Nov. 1875, was an Indian Tribal freedom fighter and a religious leader. He belonged to the Munda tribe. He was the leader of the millenarian Movement that started in the Bengal Presidency (Now known as Jharkhand) during British rule.

Peer Ali Khan

Peer Ali Khan was a freedom fighter of India. He participated in many freedom movements. But unfortunately, he was given Capital punishment for participating in the freedom movement of 1857.

Lakshmi Sahgal

Lakshmi Sahgal was born on the 24th of October, 1914. He was an Indian revolutionary of the independence movement. She has served as an officer of the Indian National Army and the minister of Women's Affairs.

Garimella Satyanarayana

Garimella Satyanarayana was an inspiration for so many people. He was a writer who used to write influential poems and songs to instill the spirit of patriotism in the people of Andhra Pradesh to join the movement against British rule.

Matangini Hazra

Matangini Hazra was born on October 19, 1870, in a very poor family. She got no formal education due to poverty. She was married at an early age and was widowed at 18.
Matangini Hazra is regarded as a champion of the Quit India movement and The Civil Disobedience Movement.
