The rate at which plastic is being produced is worrisome. In this process, more than 99% plastic is made from natural resources; gas, oil and coal.
Single use plastic pollutes our environment - be these seas, oceans, land fields, fresh water, etc. Single use plastic produces so many harmful gases - which not only are harmful for our environment, but for human beings as well.

We need to aware people/our community of the impacts of Single Use Plastic on our environment. We need to teach them how they can reduce the use of Single Use Plastic. We can aware them by posters, social media posts, ads, and more.
Use Single Use Plastic Alternatives:
We as a responsible citizens of our country, need to take some major steps to reduce the impacts of Single Use Plastic on our environment.
We should use Single Use Plastic Alternatives.
- We can use reusable tap water for drinking instead of buying plastic bottled water from shops and restaurants.
- We should use cotton bags instead of plastic grocery bags.
- We should say no to plastic grocery products.
Purchase Reusable Items:
We should purchase those items which can be recycled and reused and avoid purchasing Single Use Plastic items.
Practice 7 R's:
We have all heard about 3R's; Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle. But we should think beyond it. We need to practice 7R's in our lives.

Global Initiatives for Single Use Plastic Problems:
The European Parliament approved a complete ban on Single-Use Plastic in October, 2018. The initiative came into effect in 2021.
Not only in Europe, South Korea also announced an initiative to reduce waste from stores and industries to Zero percent by the year 2027. South Korea announced this initiative on 4 September 2018.
Around the world, more and more countries are joining the campaign. Malaysia, Taiwan, France, Kenya & Seattle have also banned the use of Single-Use Plastic.
Single Use Plastic Ban Indian Initiatives:
The Union Government laid out a multi-ministerial plan to curb and discourage the use of Single Use Plastic across India in 2019.
The Central Government of India announced to ban the use of Single-Use Plastics from July 1, 2022.
